If you’ve looked at Korean skincare lately, you’ve surely noticed three letters: PDRN. It’s in serums, creams, masks and even lip balms. Here’s what it is and what you can expect from it.
What is PDRN?
PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is made of DNA fragments. It’s traditionally derived from salmon DNA, but plant-based alternatives are becoming more common.
In South Korea, PDRN has been used in aesthetic medicine for years – for example in the skin booster injections known as Rejuran. Now it has made its way into everyday skincare.
What does PDRN do for your skin?
- Supports recovery – helps tired, irritated or damaged skin bounce back faster.
- Hydrates – skin feels softer and more elastic.
- Soothes – suitable for sensitive skin too.
- Adds glow – skin looks more rested and even.
Worth knowing: the strongest research results come from PDRN injections in a medical setting. In creams and serums the effect is gentler, but with regular use you’ll see the difference – better hydrated, smoother and calmer skin.
Who is PDRN for?
PDRN suits almost every skin type, especially:

- skin that needs to recover after sun, treatments or irritation;

How to use PDRN products
Apply a PDRN serum after toner and before moisturiser. PDRN pairs well with most ingredients – niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and peptides. You can use it morning and evening.
